On July 2, the WLVCG had its first meeting with the Park Advisory Board (PAB) for Westchester Park.
The PAB was 100% in favor of the garden concept and praised our presentation. We were invited back for their September meeting where we hope to make the presentation to additional members of the Parks & Recreation department.

About WLVCG
The Community Garden at Westchester/Loyola Village is a dream coming to fruition. Located near the intersection of Lincoln & Manchester in the Westchester area of Los Angeles, right next to the public library, WLVCG will be a traditional community garden with plots where people can grow vegetables for their families.

How Do I Get a Plot at WLVCG?
We're not quite ready for that yet. At the moment we're gathering interested community members in a Garden Club. We're in the phase of building this garden where we submit plans and get approvals. Fundraising volunteers are welcome! Soon we'll be looking for volunteers to help build the "backbone" of the garden: removing the lawn, installing the fencing and beginning the demonstration garden. Eventually, we'll be offering the plots to eager gardeners via a lottery method. At present, plans are for the lottery to be open to people who rent property within bicycle or walking distance of the garden itself. We have hopes that similar gardens will soon "sprout up" in other areas of our city.
